The second ever HSS-Charité-Schulthess Shoulder Conference is taking place on 27 January. The conference will see specialists from the HSS Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Schulthess Klinik join forces to share their knowledge with shoulder surgeons from all over the world in online training sessions.

Schulthess Klinik has come out on top in the latest «Best Specialist Hospitals in Switzerland 2023» list, taking first place for orthopaedics. To compile the ranking, the Handelszeitung newspaper and market research providers Statista assessed 270 hospitals in Switzerland.  

A multicentre study by our research team on the treatment of posterior shoulder instability was awarded the Best Paper Prize at the Dublin congress of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC).

Schulthess Klinik was once again ranked 6th in orthopaedics in the latest World’s Best Specialized Hospitals ranking, published by the US news magazine Newsweek. The ranking is based in particular on expert opinions from all over the world. Schulthess Klinik is also listed in the new World’s Best Smart Hospitals ranking.

Back pain is very common. That is why it is a central topic in the work of Schulthess Klinik, both in the treatment of its patients and in its research. A joint research project in this field in collaboration with ETH Zurich is now being supported by ETH’s renowned «Personalized Health and Related Technology» (PHRT) funding programme.

Dr. med. univ. Hannes Manner will be promoted to Head of Paediatric Orthopaedics as of 1 July 2022. Dr. med. Rafael Velasco will continue to support the clinic as a senior consultant.

Our hand surgery and science team was well-represented at this year’s IFSSH, IFSHT & FESSH Combined Congress from June 6 to 10 in London. Michael Oyewale was awarded a research prize at the Congress.

The Hand Surgery update Schulthess Klinik – Arthroplasty of the Fingers, Thumb and the Distal Radio-Ulnar Joint (DRUJ) has been cancelled.
