Twenty years ago, Dr. med. Hans-Kaspar Schwyzer began systematically documenting shoulder prosthesis surgeries at the Schulthess Klinik. Thousands of cases later, this amount of data now provides unique insights for research and treatment. Together with his successor, Prof. Dr. med. Markus Scheibel, who now continues the project with his team, Hans-Kaspar Schwyzer reflects in this interview on the early days, the development, and the years of collaboration.

Prof. Dr. med. Markus Scheibel, Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Schulthess Klinik, had the proud honour of being invited to the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA as a visiting professor at the end of August. 

The Shoulder and Elbow Surgery department at Schulthess Klinik has successfully operated on freestyle wrestler and Olympic champion Akhmed Tazhudinov. Before his surgery, the athlete, who competes for Bahrain, won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the 97 kg weight class at the Olympic Games in Paris despite a serious shoulder injury.
