Shoulder and Elbow Surgery department recognised as an SECEC/ESSSE Teaching Center
The European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC/ESSSE) has recognised our Shoulder and Elbow Surgery department, which is led by Prof. Dr. med. Markus Scheibel, as an SECEC/ESSSE Teaching Centre. Schulthess Klinik is delighted to have received the recognition required to become such a Teaching Centre, and looks forward to making an even greater contribution to training shoulder and elbow surgeons at European level.
“Top specialist hospital for orthopaedics again in 2024”
Schulthess Klinik has come out on top in the “Top Specialist Hospitals in Switzerland” list for the second time in a row, taking first place for orthopaedics.
Dr. med. univ. Hannes Manner, new Head of Paediatric Orthopaedics
Dr. med. univ. Hannes Manner will be promoted to Head of Paediatric Orthopaedics as of 1 July 2022. Dr. med. Rafael Velasco will continue to support the clinic as a senior consultant.
CapFlex finger joint prosthesis now in use in Australia
Developed at Schulthess Klinik, the CapFlex prosthesis is now also approved for use in Australia and is available to hand surgeons across the country. The prosthesis can be used to treat conditions such as severe osteoarthritis of the interphalangeal joint.
Symptoms following back surgery – how many residual complaints can I live with?
Most operations improve the symptoms of patients with adult curvature of the spine, but do not eliminate them completely. How much residual pain is the patient happy to live with after back surgery? What constitutes a good post-surgical result when treating spinal deformities in adults? Our research looked into these questions.
