Hip Surgery
The Hip Surgery department at Schulthess Klinik is Switzerland’s largest reference centre for hip replacements. The department fits over 1,200 hip prostheses every year and performs complex revision operations. In addition to prostheses, the department also offers the full range of hip surgery. This includes complex joint-preserving procedures including arthroscopic interventions, reorientation of the pelvis and hip joint, and cartilage repair procedures.

Partial knee prosthesis/sled prosthesis
Osteoarthritis does not always affect all areas of the knee joint. If only the kneecap or the inner or outer part of the knee joint is affected by wear, a partial knee prosthesis (also known as a sled prosthesis) may be considered. Compared to a total prosthesis, a partial prosthesis generally results in better mobility and a more natural-feeling knee.
Back in the game: Swiss runner-up again thanks to shoulder surgery
Beach volleyball is his passion – but shoulder pain sidelined Charles Müller. Following a successful operation at the Schulthess Klinik, he is not only pain-free but at the top of his game again.
Radiology
Our specialist Radiology department is equipped with state-of-art, low dose X-ray machines and a wealth of adjustable equipment. We always aim to achieve the highest quality X-ray images and satisfied patients by combining innovative technology with empathetic, highly trained staff.
Concussion and sport
Sport can be a source of concussions. especially contact sports where the head and body are subjected to sudden forces of acceleration for which they are unprepared. This kind of injury can affect various systems (brain, cervical spine, equilibrium organ in the inner ear) simultaneously. Through our interdisciplinary collaboration, our extensive medical support network through the Swiss Olympic Medical Center and daily work in the field of elite sport, we also treat patients with complex concussions and offer advice to external institutions.
How an outcome system can contribute to greater patient satisfaction
Including data from a patient’s perspective has been shown to contribute to better treatment outcomes and greater patient satisfaction. Schulthess Klinik has been collecting data of this kind for many years now. The aim of our research project is to use an expert outcome system to capture this patient perspective and all other treatment-relevant data in a central system and make it available to doctors at the touch of a button. This allows them to better understand patients' specific health needs and tailor treatment to their individual needs.
