Our bustling Radiology department performed more than 59,000 X-rays in 2022 alone. These services play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. The Radiology team consists of qualified specialists who have completed many years of training in various diagnostic fields such as radiology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. Combined with state-of-the-art technology, their expertise enables us to contribute to finding reliable diagnoses at the highest level.

Our Radiology department boasts a range of outstanding services and specialist infrastructure, including: 

EOS whole-body scanner
One special feature of the Schulthess Klinik’s Radiology department is its ability to produce complete digital leg and spine images (EOS) using 2D (animated film) and 3D technology. These enable precise whole-body diagnostics in the field of paediatric orthopaedics, spine surgery and knee surgery. This state-of-the-art technology allows the whole body to be scanned in just a few seconds with a very low dose of radiation.

Flex room
Our flex room contains fully-automated devices that enable us to X-ray any patient, whether they are in a wheelchair or hospital bed, young or old. The adjustable wall mount and pivoting table mean that patients do not need to be transferred from place to place around the room.

In-floor X-ray plate
We are the first hospital in Switzerland to have an in-floor X-ray plate, which makes performing foot X-rays considerably easier. We also have a rotating wall mount for specialist imaging of the lower leg, ankle joint and foot.

Mobile X-rays 
Our team regularly performs X-rays in operating theatres as part of post-operative and intra-operative checks.

Schulthess Klinik is also home to a Medical Radiological Institute (MRI) imaging centre, the proximity of which has significant benefits for our patients. The specialists at the two institutes regularly exchange information and experiences. We also collaborate on further training, meaning that our radiology specialists (MTRA) have the opportunity to complete training in the field of MRI.
