Featured Schulthess Klinik is one of the «World's Greenest Hospitals 2026»

The Schulthess Klinik has been recognised by Statista and Newsweek as one of the «World's Greenest Hospitals 2026». It is one of 250 hospitals worldwide that have been awarded this label in recognition of their commitment to sustainability. Excellence is the top priority in all areas at the Schulthess Klinik, which is why it has already been named the second-best specialist orthopaedic clinic in Europe and number six worldwide by Newsweek.

The «World’s Greenest» award now confirms Schulthess Klinik’s consistent commitment to becoming a sustainable healthcare organisation. The award was based on a comprehensive set of criteria, which assessed, amongst other things, environmental management, resource use and specific measures to reduce environmental impact.

«We are delighted to receive this award, which shows that our commitment to greater sustainability is also being recognised internationally», says Martina Bürgi-Hawel, Deputy Director and Environmental Manager at Schulthess Klinik. «At the same time, we see it as an incentive – because sustainability is a process of continuous improvement.»

Sustainability has been a priority at Schulthess Klinik for many years. With its ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, the clinic aims to continuously improve its environmental performance. This includes, amongst other things, reducing energy and resource consumption, minimising waste and food waste, and the responsible use of materials.

The award recognises not individual projects, but the clinic’s systematic approach to integrating sustainability into day-to-day operations in the long term. We would like to thank all our staff who contribute to this development through their daily efforts.
