Featured Prof. Dr med. univ. Philipp Moroder to become the new Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery

With effect from 1 October 2026, Prof. Dr med. univ. Philipp Moroder will take up the post of Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, succeeding Prof. Dr med. Markus Scheibel, who has led the departement since 2018.

Philipp Moroder has been working as a Chief Consultant at the Schulthess Clinic since 2021 and as Deputy Medical Director since January 2026. Prior to this, he headed the Department of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Charité in Berlin. His areas of specialism include arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and elbow, joint replacement surgery and revision procedures.

Philipp Moroder is a former board member of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC) and works internationally as a speaker and instructor.

I am very much looking forward to this new role and to working with our team to further develop shoulder and elbow surgery at the Schulthess Clinic. Our aim remains to provide patient-centred care of the highest scientific standard.

Markus Scheibel has served as Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Schulthess Clinic since 2018 and, during this time, has developed the department into a centre recognised throughout Europe. We would like to thank him warmly for his many years of dedication. Markus Scheibel is now moving to the Charité in Berlin as a full professor and Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.
