Sharing knowledge, advancing quality

Medical quality is a collective effort, arising from shared knowledge, discussion of experiences and joint exploration of new insights. This dialogue is a key component of day-to-day work at Schulthess Klinik's Shoulder and Elbow Surgery department – and it goes far beyond the department's operating theatre.

Knowledge from the operating theatre shared live

Schulthess Klinik has broken new ground in medical training with a first-ever publicly broadcast shoulder operation. Specialists at the Live Shoulder Arthroplasty Summit – From Planning to Surgical Execution experienced live the replacement of a shoulder joint with an inverse prosthesis at Schulthess Klinik by Prof. Dr. med. Markus Scheibel, Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. This format allowed the participants to follow the procedure step by step and ask the experts involved questions directly, drawing on their experience. With more than 300 participants from Switzerland and abroad, this training approach helped improve the quality of shoulder arthroplasty care.

A platform for exchange and progress

In May 2025, the annual congress of the German, Austrian and Swiss Shoulder and Elbow Society (DVSE) returned to Switzerland after six years. On the occasion of the 30th congress anniversary, specialists from across the German-speaking region met in Zurich to discuss current research results, innovations and best practices under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. med. Markus Scheibel and Prof. Dr. med. univ. Philipp Moroder from Schulthess Klinik and Prof. Dr. med. Karl Wieser from Balgrist University Hospital.
