Orthopaedics PLUS – safety when it matters
Orthopaedic surgery can relieve pain, restore mobility and thus noticeably improve quality of life. For older individuals or those with complex comorbidities, this path is often more challenging. This is where Orthopaedics PLUS comes in, a concept that was again a major focus in 2025.
With Orthopaedics PLUS, we support higher-risk patients, such as those with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes or respiratory diseases, from admission to discharge. Internal medicine specialists assess the overall situation, identify risks at an early stage and coordinate treatment closely with the specialist departments of Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Nursing and Therapy. Joint rounds, clearly defined procedures and specially trained nurses and physiotherapists ensure individually tailored care, resulting in a stable, well-coordinated course of treatment.
For those affected, this means that orthopaedic surgery is possible even in complex circumstances – carefully prepared, closely monitored and with a high level of medical safety.
Orthopaedics PLUS is a clear promise from Schulthess Klinik: age or comorbidities are not criteria for exclusion. The key consideration is what is medically appropriate and supports patients in their day-to-day life.
